LOOM3D
Jeanine
Fry
Jeanine Fry is the Founder and CEO of Loom3D, a transformative startup based in Raleigh that aims to revolutionize the apparel industry by producing seamless woven garments. Her passion for fashion began in childhood, but years in the industry exposed her to its wastefulness—30% of clothing worldwide remains unsold and 25% of fabric is discarded during production.
To address these issues, Fry founded Loom3D, which employs advanced technology to weave whole garments directly on the loom, eliminating waste from cutting and sewing. Her work received recognition through a $10,000 NC IDEA MICRO grant and a $2,000 award from N.C. State’s Venture Pack Challenge.
Holding a master’s degree from N.C. State’s Wilson College of Textiles and currently pursuing a Ph.D., Fry collaborates with experts to refine Loom3D’s technology, which uses modified weaving machines for three-dimensional garment creation.
Loom3D also adopts "just-in-time" production, aligned with real-time consumer demand, reducing overproduction and waste. This innovative approach offers enhanced comfort and is beneficial for those with sensory sensitivities.

We’re thrilled to welcome the second cohort of Launch Chapel Hill, powered by KPMG. These founders represent bold ideas and the drive to transform industries. Our team is excited to help them refine their strategies, validate market opportunities, and connect with the right networks to accelerate their growth. This program is all about turning vision into impact, and we can’t wait to see what this group achieves.
Steven King, CEOBlue Sky Robotics
This was a rewarding and valuable experience that is well worth the time investment! KPMG was highly-invested providing usable, practical content every week. I recommend this to any startup past the MVP stage!
Mike Halpert, CEOVer Coaching
My name is Mike Halpert with Ver Coaching. I created the Ver vision trainer, a Neuroscience backed VR app that trains the eyes to work together. It's helping athletes track the ball better in space or be just better prepared for their sport… 80% of the perceptual part of sports is with the eyes, so training this is super important. Can we help athletes pick up things sooner? Can we help… reduce errors? Can we actually train the athletes to be in a better headspace before the spiral happens?
UNC’s Launch Chapel Hill has supported over 197 ventures over the last decade. Together, UNC and KPMG look forward to ushering in the next wave of technology.

Mark
van Zee
Mark van Zee is the CEO and Founder of Saku, a company he launched after earning his PhD in bioengineering and running headfirst into a hard truth: biotech doesn’t have an R&D problem, it has a scalability problem. For the past decade, he’s been obsessed with closing that gap by inventing the PicoShell technology, the first screening tool specifically designed to evolve producer cell lines to enhance biomanufacturing output. Mark moves fluidly between the science and the business, equally at home in the lab and the boardroom. What sets him apart is his conviction that biotechnology isn’t just another industry: it’s the next great frontier. And if built the right way, it has the power to reshape how we make medicine, food, materials, and ultimately, a better world.

Counterforce Health
Riyaa
Jadhav
Counterforce Health was founded by Neal Shah, Gavry Eshet, Maggie Xu, and Riyaa Jadhav to tackle the widespread issue of denied health insurance claims. Drawing from personal experiences with claim denials for critical treatments, this team developed a free AI-driven platform to simplify the appeals process. The AI quickly generates precise appeal letters, significantly improving approval rates and alleviating the burden on patients and caregivers.
Focused on empowering individuals and small clinics, Counterforce Health delivers accessible tools to navigate the complexities of insurance denials, aiming to rectify systemic inequities in healthcare. Their platform also includes Maxwell, a voice AI currently in development, which will directly engage with insurers to streamline the appeal process further.
Located in Durham, Counterforce Health is expanding its reach by collaborating with national health organizations and regional hospitals, ensuring more patients and healthcare providers can access vital resources to effectively challenge claim denials. Through innovative technology and a commitment to fairness, the founders are redefining health insurance advocacy, making it more human-centered and equitable for all.

Caffeine
Dustin
Allen
Dustin and Hearsch met at the AI Forge convention in 2023 and decided to collaborate, combining Allen's mobile development expertise and Jariwala's AI knowledge. After a year of research into consumer needs, they founded Fiscus in 2024 to tackle workflow challenges for businesses, initially focusing on accounting tools.
However, Fiscus's AI faced challenges with accuracy. They refined their approach through Duke's HackDuke hackathon, developing a local AI model that functions offline, facilitating seamless business application integration. In 2025, they rebranded as Caffeine, creating a platform that connects AI to business apps without coding, making AI more accessible to all users.
Caffeine enhances productivity by allowing AI to manage documents and spreadsheets without storing files, maintaining privacy. It caters to both individuals and companies, offering a private cloud workspace integrated with AI for efficient office automation. Users can choose from freemium membership plans to access various features, including the Core Cloud Model and privacy mode.
Together they bootstrapped their efforts for eight months and are now seeking external funding, having raised $100,000 from the 1616 Ignite Accelerator. Caffeine prioritizes human-centric AI, empowering users to manage and guide the tool in their workflows, elevating them to manager-level oversight rather than replacement.

They aim to extend Amidonshield’s advancements beyond construction through strategic partnerships. The quality of the keynotes and side conversations were astounding we truly do sit at a pivotal time in history. Looking forward to what's next!
Bill Latshaw, IDC
My takeaway from the symposium is like departing Davos. An experience of meeting a great many changemakers, big thinkers, professional disruptors, practicing innovators, and senior leaders, all leaving with their thinking changed and perception enhanced as they leave the mountaintop with their feet grounded, but their thinking not entirely leaving the clouds.
Experience the 2025 KPMG Tech and Innovation Symposium.
Set the Enterprise agenda in this era of unprecedented technology disruption and opportunity.

Associate Dean of Research, The University of Texas at Austin
This was clearly the pinnacle of gatherings for learning about the directions the business world is heading, and for my purposes, the role of university-corporate partnerships in that trajectory. I not only left with a head full of new ideas, but also some concrete ways to pursue them. Presenters were provocative and informative. The conference far surpassed my expectations.
Keynote Speaker
Congratulations on the event – absolutely incredible, a ton of fun, what a great crowd, I’ve already had several people who want to follow-up.

So this KPMG event was the best / most helpful of all events I've spoken at over the last 2 years which is saying something bc there have been weeks this year that I speak at 6 events. So: Go Richard and thank you for inviting me!
